Distribution and correlations of school bully activities in a Central Indian district of Madhya Pradesh

Background: Bullying at schools is a known but neglected phenomenon. The study of its prevalence and correlates are essential to curb this aberrant behavior for building healthy society. Aim Objective: This cross-sectional evaluation was carried out the pattern through which bully activities manifests in students from 6th 10th standards find positive negative correlates. Materials Methods: Candidates selection done simple random technique proportionate sampling adopted ensure equal presentation across board i.e., urban vs rural, types schools, gender class(standard). Results: 480 participants were studied both rural high (6th – standard) proportion. An portion (33.3%) ensured three groups Girls, Co-education, Boys, (50%) class(standard) 20% each them. Their age ranged 10 years 18 with mean 13.9 standard deviation 1.66. Of them 52% bystanders, 48% engaged some form (20% victim, 16% 13% bully). While victim scores showed strong correlation (r - 0.259**, p 0.000) their relation prosocial self-esteem strongly (p 0.001). GHQ (General Health Questionnaire) score not related any above ones. Conclusion: Bully predominant population. From results, it appears that measures directed improving behaviors pupils can act as effective counters empathetic school activities.
